Basic Electrical Measurements
To
measure resistance, voltage and current in various devices ohmmeter, voltmeter
and ammeter is used, respectively.
1.
Ohmmeter
Resistance is measured in Ohmmeter. It is
also available in both analog and digital forms. Measurement unit is Ohm (Ω).
2.
Voltmeter
A voltmeter is used to measure voltage. The
proper name for voltage is 'potential difference', but most people prefer to
say voltage! Measurement unit is voltage (V).
3.
Ammeter
An ammeter is used to measure current. It is also referred to as ampere meter. Measurement unit is Ampere (I).
1 Resistor –Resistance Ohm Ω
2 Current Ampere I
3 Voltage Volt V
4 Capacitor- Capacitance Farad F
5 Inductor-Inductance Henry L
6 Power Watt W
7 Conductance mho Ʊ
