Multiply numbers using a basic formula in Excel
These first
two methods allow you to multiply numbers in the same cell and multiple cells
using a basic formula.
Multiply the numbers in a
single cell
1.
Open Microsoft Excel and
select an empty cell.
Open a blank spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel and select a cell.
Select any empty cell to start in the selected cell
1. Type an equal sign (=) in the selected cell, after which you want to multiply those numbers, type an asterisk between them.
Type
the numbers with the asterisk
followed by an equal icon, type an asterisk between the ones you want to multiply.
1. Press "Enter" on the keyboard. In the selected cell, your equation will disappear, and the answer will be displayed.
Press
"Enter" on the keyboard and the answer to multiply in your equation
will appear.
Press
"Enter" on the keyboard to multiply your factors, and the
answer will appear in the cell.
Multiply the
internal numbers of different cells in Excel
If you want
to multiply two or more cells in Excel, follow the
following instructions:
1.
Open the Microsoft Excel
spreadsheet that multiplies the numbers and type an equal sign into an empty
cell.
Type an
equal sign in an empty cell to multiply the numbers in different cells.
Type an
equal sign into an empty cell and click different cells instead of equal
symbols to start creating the formula.
1. You click on the first cell you want to multiply, and the name of the cell will appear next to the equal sign. Next, type an asterisk instead of the cell name, which will appear after that.
You click on the first cell you want to multiply, and the name
of the cell will appear next to the equal sign. Next, type an
asterisk instead of the cell name, which will appear after that.
1. You click on the second cell that you want to multiply, and repeat the asterisk to add it to the formula and click More Cells for more factors.
You click on the second cell you want to
multiply, and repeat the estheriska to add it to the
formula and click More Cells for more factors.
Press the "Enter" keyboard, and the answer will
be displayed.
Press the
"Enter" button to complete the formula and the answer will be
displayed.
Multiply
numbers using the PRODUCT formula in Excel
Similar to
using a basic formula to multiply numbers in Excel, users can also use the PRODUCT formula to multiply together up to 255 values.
1. Open Microsoft Excel and select an empty cell. Type an equal icon, then type the word PRODUCT in all capital letters. After that, add an open parathesis.
Type an
equal sign in the empty cell, type the word PRODUCT into all
capital letters and add an open parentthesis.
1.
Alternatively, if you
want to multiply different cells, type the
names of the cells with commas within the open parathesis.
Alternatively, if you want to multiply different cells, type the names of the cells with commas within the open parathesis.
To multiply the cells of a series, type a colon between the names of the two cells, which shows that all the cells in that series should be multiplied.
For example,
"=PRODUCT(A2:A5)" makes it clear that cells A2, A3, A4, and A5 must be
multiplied.
If you want to add a number to
the equation, just type a comma and then
that number.
Add a closed
parathesis to complete your equation and press the "Enter" button on
your keyboard. The answer will be displayed in the answer cell.
After
entering the internal content of your formula, finally
insert the closed parathesis and press the "Enter" button on your
keyboard. Your answer will appear in the answer cell.
Multiply
numbers using a constant in Excel
In Excel, a constant is a set number that retains its
value in your sheet. You create a formula using a static that can be applied to
more than one cell simultaneously. Here's how:
Open Microsoft Excel. Type the
number at the top of the sheet into a blank cell that you
want to multiply by a set number. This is your static number.
Type the number in a blank cell that you want to
multiply by a set number, and this is your static
number.
Find the column you want to
multiply by your static. Type an equal sign on the second empty column of the
sheet in an empty cell.
Column A is your set number that you want
to multiply, and column B is an empty
column. Type an equal icon in the empty column.
Click on the first cell, which you
want to multiply by the static number, and its name will appear near
the equal sign. Next, type an asterisk.
Click in the
first column, which you want to multiply by
the static number, and its name will appear next
to the equal sign. Next, type an asterisk.
Add the dollar sign ($) and then the
column letter to the same cell
(after Asterisk), which has your static number. Then add another dollar sign, and the
column number that contains your static number.
In the same
cell (after Asterisk) add the dollar sign and then the column letter, which
contains your static number. Then add another dollar sign, and the
column number that contains your static number.
Press the "Enter" keyboard, and the answer will
be displayed.
Press the
"Enter" keyboard, and the answer will
be displayed.
If you want, you can
double-click on the small green box of that cell to apply your formula to all
cells in the desired column. Excel will automatically run equations and fill
the column with your answers/answers.

Alternatively, you can
click on the small green box, drag and copy under the column
and paste the formula (to get the same result/answer).

you can click on the small green box, drag and copy under the column
and paste the formula (to get the same result/answer).
In this way, you can multiply a set of numbers/cells on more than one cell using a constant, so you will not have to create multiple formulas.
